Teaching - All Gone

Teaching - All Gone

One of my concerns is making sure they know when the food is gone. Not sure if this works, but I’m making a habit of holding my hands out in a display of “look, nothing left” when the food is all gone. I also try not to encourage any feeding later in the day, so even though I sometimes get greeted at lunch or in the evenings, I generally don’t feed them. Occasionally when I’m with the kids as they love it! But then the crows can build a separate association with me and the kids, instead of me and the dog in the morning.

I don’t know if the “all gone” gesture works, but I’ll keep doing it and hopefully they’ll understand enough to know that’s it. It’s nice to hang out with them after the food is gone. My dog is old and chill, although sometimes she tries to play with the crows (they’re not having any of it though!).
